McFarlandKnown for his craftsmanship and love of gardening, Mr. McFarland surely has built and left a legacy here at Goretti. On June 2nd, 2017, St. Maria Goretti High School celebrated beloved art teacher, Tom McFarland, who will retire at the end of the school year, at Beaver Creek Country Club during their “Gaels Just Wanna Have Fun” end of the year “fun”-raising event. The event raised over $4,500 to start what will be known as the Tom McFarland Fine Arts Scholarship!

Mr. McFarland leaves his legacy here at Goretti by establishing a scholarship that will be awarded to a graduating senior who plans to continue their pursuit of and education in the fine arts at college.

The event included a wine wall, corn hole tournament, and silent auction, ending with musical performances by Mr. McFarland himself and music teacher, Mrs. Austin. Mr. McFarland also revealed his bleacher wood guitar, made mainly from the old Goretti Gael Center bleacher wood. All proceeds from the night went to benefiting the scholarship fund. Thank you to all our donors, sponsors, family and friends who attended! A special thank you to our senior Class of 2017 who made the first donation to the scholarship fund as their senior gift.
