Junior Ring Day Mass & Ceremony

St. Maria Goretti High School held their annual Junior Ring Day Mass and Ceremony at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church at 9:15 a.m. This special tradition signifies Goretti’s junior class as officially becoming upperclassmen of the school. The class of 2018 received class rings or other mementos, which were blessed and distributed during the ceremony, as eleventh grade students were given the responsibility of school leadership through the next year.
Msgr. J. Bruce Jarboe celebrated the mass teaching about transitions in our life. Juniors Sirri Akaya and Seamus Murray added to the Class Reflections as they recalled moments of laughter, growth, and friendship throughout their time at Goretti.
Guest alumni speaker Jessica Swarner graduated from Goretti in 2013 and is now a senior at Arizona State University. She spoke about her college decision of going across the country to Arizona and how those challenging decisions allow an opportunity for true growth out of our comfort zone. Jessica encouraged juniors to not be fearful of those leaps of faith. junior class vice president, recognized at this year’s ceremony. Swarner’s younger sister, Juliana, is a junior and vice president of the Goretti junior class. The younger Swarner is one of 61 in the junior class that was recognized last Friday.
Juniors and their families celebrated with a luncheon after the service at Fountain Head Country Club.
