Goretti Players perform Pride & Prejudice

This past November, St. Maria Goretti High School and the Cumberland Valley School of Music presented Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice as the school’s fall drama performance. With a stage production adapted by Paula K. Parker, Pride & Prejudice tells the story of Elizabeth Bennet and her four sisters, whose home is at risk to be taken away as it can only be inherited by a male relative. The satire filled with humor and romance unfolds as potential suitors move to Elizabeth’s town.

Cast leads included Goretti junior, Sarah Szukalski, as Elizabeth Bennet, senior Justin Semler as Mr. Darcy, senior Jason Marinelli as Mr. Bingley, junior Leah Morgan as Jane Bennet and seniors Sean Sempowski and Kaitlyn Hevey as Mr. and Mrs. Bennet.

Between those in the cast and those on the technical crews, roughly a quarter of Goretti’s student body is involved in the production of Pride & Prejudice.

Performances took place at the Academy Theater in Hagerstown.
