It was a sunny and mild spring day on May 23 as the class of 2015 processed into St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Hagerstown for the school’s baccalaureate mass and commencement exercises.
The 42 graduates earned $6.3 million in college scholarships and completed 8,190 hours of community service during their time at Goretti.
Mary Katherine Levangie was named the class’ valedictorian and Katerina D’Addato and Richard Wade Gorman were named the salutatorians. Levangie is also a Commended National Merit Scholar along with senior William Snyder, IV.

During graduation, the school also recognized this year’s recipient of Goretti’s Distinguished Alumnus Award who is Bill Breichner, a 1951 graduate of St. Mary Catholic High School, which later became St. Maria Goretti High School. Breichner, a former City of Hagerstown mayor, administrator, and councilman, was recognized for his dedication to Goretti over the years, including the time he served on the school’s Board of Trustees, and for serving as a role model for students.
