Catholic HEART Workcamp 2017

Philadelphia, PA

June 11-16, 2017- Seventeen students from St. Maria Goretti High School along with Campus Ministry Director, Mrs. Nees, Todd Anderson, Maria Taylor, and Dana Hilmoe traveled to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to serve at this year’s Catholic HEART Workcamp. Catholic HEART Workcamp works throughout the country in 50 cities with over 13,000 members or parish youth groups and schools joining “to share the love of Christ as we serve the neglected, brokenhearted, and the marginalized in any way needed.”

Goretti students worked alongside other student volunteers on a number of different sites across the city of Philadelphia fixing homes, drywall, painting, cleaning up yards, etc.  On their free day, the 16th, the group went to Hershey Park and also had the opportunity to check out downtown Philly and see the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival.

Students that attended include: Marina Hamilla, Abby Theis, Fizah Yousuf, Aroub Yousuf, Tyler Huynh, Tiffany Huynh, Dalton Sponaugle, Georgia Giannaris, Sofia Lopes, Katherine DeVine, Therese Martin, Alexei Wood, Emily Abe, John Anderson, Mariclare Anderson (attends BISA), Trey Camacho, and Lauren Lindsey.

CHWC is a youth friendly, Christ centered ministry which faithfully and enthusiastically honors the Roman Catholic Church and its teachings. It is a powerful opportunity “to love the least of these”.
