Alumni Profile: Lee Green Class of ’99

Lee Green graduated from St. Maria Goretti High School in 1999 where he was Washington County Player of the Year and led the boys basketball team to an 80-42 record over his four years. He is now author of Believe From Within: How Basketball Changed my Life and owner of Lee Green Basketball, a Christian based youth basketball organization in Maryland and Texas.

After Goretti, Lee played two years of basketball at Allegany Junior College. He led the team in free throw percentage, was top 2 on the team for assists, and finished top 3 in Allegany’s history for 3 pointers. During his 2 years, Allegany went 60-8 and in 2002 qualified for NJCAA Championships. He then transferred to play Division I basketball at University of North Texas as their two-year starting point guard. He graduated with a degree in Applied Arts & Science.

Green founded Lee Green Basketball in 2006 after playing and working with pro players in the NBA, WNBA, and overseas. The program started with just 8 kids and since has grown to over 180 participants and programs in both Maryland and Texas. His goal is to instill confidence and equip athletes so they can succeed both on and off the court.

In his book, Believe From Within, Green shares his story of how basketball influenced his life in a positive way and ultimately how it led him to starting a relationship with Christ.

Green’s book signing will take place Saturday, March 11th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Greene Turtle in Hagerstown, MD. For more information, visit or
